Laura McDonald is a Sydney-based screenwriter and playwright. In 2020, while undertaking the MFA in Writing for Performance at NIDA, she and Sophie Davis began their unstoppable partnership. Laura’s 2021 directorial debut short film Reverie gained multiple festival selections, including winning Outstanding LGBTQIA+ at Indie Shorts Fest.

Her theatre works include Don’t Hate the Player (2019) and How to Converse (2022). For the screen, her directorial debut short film Reverie (2021) gained multiple festival selections and won Outstanding LGBTQIA+ at Indie Shorts Fest. Laura seeks to make work that surprises, inspires and “gets the people going”.

Fruit Box Theatre acknowledges the Traditional Owners of country and their continuous connection to lands, water and culture. We pay our respects to Elders past and present. Fruit Box operates primarily on the stolen lands of the Gadigal and Wangal peoples of the Eora nation, of which sovereignty was never ceded.
